Demystifying AI for Your Business!

9 October 2025 WORQ@Subang, UOA Park. On a cozy Thursday morning, having the opportunity as an invited panel speaker, Mr. Bernard Yeong, CEO of Accordia Global among two other panelists who are industry thought leaders in this very field. Bringing to the table a much talked about and relevant topic of The Automation Revolution of Demystifying AI for fellow business owners.

With the bombardment of AI based topics from news, to social media, and entertainment outlets one wonders when we hit the pillow at night, will one have a constant dream of AI!? Truly it’s moving at the speed of light into what all experts say it can be.

Should SMEs worry over this unstoppable revolution of automation that is taking place all over the world, not forgetting locally here at the heart of Malaysia? Our government being the key driver of this revolution in herding Malaysia towards a High-Tech nation by 2030 is truly not that far off. In just short 5 years in the future, hence the aggressive push for strong collaboration between government agencies and the private sector in infrastructure, newly formed agencies overseeing tech in the government side, connectivity and of course investments towards a tech-ready nation.

Have you envisioned where your business milestone growth will be? Today, we’ve had the opportunity to co-host  business owners, partners, leaders, and associates who seek clarity with the perfect opportunity to hear firsthand from these panels.

VIEWPOINTS on Demystifying AI:

Introduction & General Perspective in AI

Artificial Intelligence is truly not new to the tech-world. The technology itself has existed for sometime back when scientists first introduced machine learning in the 1950s. Ever since, our daily lives have been relying on AI functions. It’s just that in reality it just got much smarter, from a traditional role of only receiving instructions to being trained to function better than a human mind.

Take-away: SMEs have no reason to fear or be apprehensive of the age of AI. It’s a tool to be embraced.

Data

Data is an important core in all aspects be it for corporations or the government. One panelist who is within the field of data extraction reports for GLCs, private sectors as well as government agencies. Shared, one important project that came to mind, did mention benefits of Generative AI, should it have existed way back, it would have helped greatly with data extraction of covid-19 clusters, around the country with much needed speed and with accuracy at that point of time.

Another point being brought up is Data “hallucination”. The current in-famous news, is the Deloitte blunder on the data report for the government of Australia. Which means Gen-AI reports do still require humans in monitoring. However, one can’t deny there are more pros’ than cons given the real-life scenarios above.

Take-away: Every click, call, share, like, browse is valuable data. Even when your physical store or operation hours are closed. They are gold to be mined. Integrated Gen-Ai functions help businesses consolidate these data in real time.

Integration & Scalability

Artificial Intelligence is inevitable. Answered, another panelist who addressed the question along the lines of affordability by SMEs. Are these businesses able to adopt AI?

Since it’s inevitable, adoption should be in the pipeline, regardless if you don’t, competitors will be catching up and falling behind your competitors. A rather dangerous gamble. The fact is, society today requires the need for tech infused services. A good advice from the panelist is to start small. Identify small problems that one face in the business, troubleshoot and slowly build on from there.

The stark truth is, one cannot stop progress. Just like time, one can’t stop time from travelling but it is how one uses the time wisely. Afterall Rome was not built in a day, but one should not wait too long.

Take-away: Exploring CX tech partners such as Accordia Global, with capability of Accordia-AI technology which allows a selection of an ala carte menu per se. Start with the most needful services such as AI-powered chatbot and scale higher with required integration from there on. Plus point, de-scale should the need arise.

Governance, risk & responsibility

As one read on the news, governments all over are actively drawing up guidelines and laws on AI, this should not come as a surprise. This is the macro picture of Ai’s future, SMEs should not be concerned as long as the business or services provided are within the legal frame. What’s there to be concerned about?

Another interesting view shared by the panelist on how Ai is involved on the above topic of governance, risk and responsibility is from his own experience of conducting an audit out of Malaysia.

It all looked like business as usual, roadshows, client dinners, and a few entertainment claims here and there. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? Until one month, an unusually high expense raised some eyebrows. A closer audit revealed something interesting: those “client outings” weren’t exactly what they seemed. The same group of people kept showing up in the photos. Turns out, what was filed as client entertainment was actually a string of personal getaways on the company’s dime.

Imagine, if fifteen years ago, with Gen-Ai technology, wouldn’t detection be much earlier? Saving the company resources and time. Helping with reducing the hassle if verification or manual checking.

Take away:  Simple technology such as WhatsApp eKYC can help with verification and immediate onboarding. Reducing time and keeping customers' identity safe.

At the end of the event with informal knowledge sharing among participants and panelists.

In a nutshell, SMEs should not be afraid to leverage on the Ai technology that has been improved to date. But instead embrace it with the help of experienced ISO certified partners, who are able to advise your growth. Flexibility is the key as always.

General feedback of the session is that it was positive, a greater understanding of what truly is Artificial Intelligence in the role for SMEs. The benefits and the steps which SMEs can plan to take in the near future.
